Putting a charity’s annual appeal on the news agenda

The National Churches Trust’s ‘Save Our Churches’ auction

The National Churches Trust (NCT) is a charity that protects UK’s heritage of church buildings, helping to maintain and enhance their use for local communities and tourists.

We worked with the NCT to elevate its annual auction into a national appeal, calling on heritage lovers across the country to save Britain’s churches from falling into disrepair. Our PR campaign revealed new data and expert insight about England’s churches that were most at risk of weather erosion, while leveraging the support of the Trust’s high-profile patron, Bill Bryson.

Launched in the UK with headlines appearing in The Times, ITV News and Evening Standard, the campaign went on to generate international exposure with coverage as far as Australia. Not only did it raise the profile of the NCT and its important work, but it also took the auction international, attracting new audiences and worldwide supporters beyond its network.

The campaign also received widespread regional publicity in the UK with articles in Daily Echo, Thisismoney.co.uk, Belfast Telegraph, Newcastle Herald and Northwich Guardian, among others.
