COLOUR NEWS

Comments from Colour PR’s co-founding director Zekra Rahman were featured in the latest annual CharityComms Salary and Organisational Culture Survey.
The report contains key data and analysis on salaries, workplace culture and the evolving roles of marketing and communications in the charity sector, while featuring valuable contributions and commentary from industry insiders and leaders.
As part of the report, Zekra was invited to share her views on the importance of diverse, inclusive and representative communications which, as we’ve witnessed at Colour PR over the years, is something charities often strive for but frequently struggle to get right.
Zekra’s contribution reflects a reality many comms professionals will recognise: engaging diverse audiences takes more than good intentions. Without culturally informed storytelling, thoughtful messaging, and strategic outreach, campaigns risk feeling tokenistic or missing the mark entirely.
“By working with partners who understand diverse audiences, charities can create campaigns that are culturally aware, authentic, and impactful,” she commented. “From the media people consume and the languages they speak, to the voices they trust and barriers they face, every element plays a role in building authentic engagement and representation.”
